RENEWING A GUYANA PASSPORT

July 12th, 2005  |  Published in News & Sports  |  61 Comments

The application form for the renewal of a Guyana passport may be obtained at the Guyana Embassy or any Guyana consulate. An application form costs US$1. Mailing requests for forms must be accompanied by cost for return postage.

1. Three (3) full face black and white or color passport size photographs taken on a clear background are needed.

2. Applicant should sign in the places on the form indicated for applicant’s signature.

3. The cost of renewing a Republic of Guyana passport is US$45 which should be sent in the form of a Money Order or a Bank Draft payable to the Embassy of the Republic of Guyana. Please DO NOT SEND PERSONAL CHECKS. (There is a fee of US$35 for express service. This is optional).

4. It will also be necessary to send a small sum to cover the registered return postage of the document. Applicants living in the United States of America should send US$6. This sum may be added to the fee for the renewal of the passport and one Money Order/Bank Draft sent.

5. If the applicant is requesting a name change because of marriage, kindly submit the husband’s birth certificate, the marriage certificate and if applicable, divorce decree.

6. The applicant will have to submit his/her present passport to the Embassy along with the application form and Money Order.

PLEASE NOTE THAT A PASSPORT IS VALID FOR 15 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF ISSUE.

(Note: All fees are in US dollars)

    Hi,

My passport was recently renewed for only a year. I was under the impression
it would be renewed for five years. Why was it only renewed for a year?

    Thanks.

My passports recently expire and I am waiting for the form to renew it.

How long it usually take to receive the form once you request it?
And if I have an emergency (death in the family) can I request an emergency renewal of my passport? If this can be done how long does it take?

    Good Morning,

In this day and age of technology why can’t the application for renewal or even a new passport be obtain on-line? Why does the application have to be picked-up? How has the time! Understandable there is a fee of $1.00 for the application; this could be included with the renewal fee & cost for registered return postage.

Good day, I totally agree with a subscriber above, why is it that we aren’t able to access a renewal or application form online, i think this is gross nonsense in this mordern day age. And why do you have to wait up to 9 months for a lost PP, mine was eithet stolen or lost, why do i have to submitt a Police report for such, no one does it in Guyana why all this time for that. Guyanese living in the US are very busy people.Plz u ppl need to upgrade on the technology. Thank you

    Hello

I live in Anguilla in the Caribbean. I happen to pounce on this website while looking for the new Guyana passport forms. My son’s passport will expire in February 2008 and only has one page available. I figure I will have to apply for a new one for him. My questions are, is it possible to obtain a new passport from the nearest consulate, that is, in Antigua? What is the cost? I have an old passport application form, can I use that? Are there new forms for the new passports?

    Your earliest response is appreciated.

    With kind regards
    Arlene Mercurius

    vog:
Arlene thank for visiting our site
you would have to go to Antigua and speak to the consulate there
this is the contact information we have. the old form is quite likely invalid since we are now using machine readable passport. we are not sure of the cost overseas. it’s $1000 in Guyana. please update us if the information below is incorrect

  46. Voice of Guyana says:

    November 26th, 2008 at 7:00 pm (#)

    @mabon -

it is not advisable to leave the US if your greencard is lost. Reapply for a new green card and have your passport stamped by INS.
If you leave, which you can do with your passport, re-entering will be very difficult as you will have a very hard time establishing you are a legal resident. [you may have an old stamp in the passport but the card will avoid you hassles]
You could be detained until they can verify your identity.

For travels to other countries from the US all you need is a passport and greencard. Minus greencard you need a stamp from INS that you have reapplied for a greencard which they will place in your passport. This stamp will have a number which is the same as the number on your greencard. It is generally valid for 6 months, by which time you would have receive your new card.
