    if i walk in to renew my passport would it be issue the same day

  • Voice of Guyana says:

    @narupa rampersaud

    same day renewals are not possible. it could take at least two weeks and possibly longer depending on where you are located.

  • Voice of Guyana says:

    @lea golpe

    your friend can renew her passport by sending it to the nearest Guyana Embassy or High Commission. There is one in India. First she would need to download an application form and contact the embassy regarding postage, fees & etc

    @marvin

    you can download and print a copy of the form here

  • Martha says:

    I lost my guyana passport and need a new one how long will it take to replace one and what form do I need?

  • Voice of Guyana says:

    @Martha
    did you report the passport stolen?

    Application for a replacement for a LOST PASSPORT must be accompanied by a sworn notarized statement explaining how the passport was lost. According to the Passport regulations, a period of six (6) months must elapse before a lost passport is replaced. (However, a replacement is generally issued before that time span).

  • Voice of Guyana says:

    @FRANCES CHARLES

    you can send the application plus fees and shipping to the Embassy in Washington DC
    please call before mailing anything

  • Charles says:

    Man renewing this passport is a pain. Im out in another state at the moment and will be for a few months so I ask a friend to pick up a renewal form at the NY Consulate like it says on this site. Instead of asking for the 1.00 they tell him they need to see the passport…He tells them that it is for a friend they still won’t give him the form…

    So my first question is will they really send me a form if I request it by mail and pay for return postage.

    My next question is the form from the Guyana Police Force site looks like a bootleg form and unprofessional. Will they accept this renewal form if I fill it out and send it in with my passport?

    hi good afternoon to u my question is my passport got damage and i am coming home to look after my passport and would have to travel back to the British Virgin Island on the first of May 2009 and i was wondering how long it will take for me to get my passport back so i can go for my visa i am comming to guyana on the 23rd of April

    thanks
    leisha muir

  • Voice of Guyana says:

    @leisha muir

    a new passport takes about one week
    a damaged passport usually takes two months to replace
    you may have to leave on a travel document and have someone pick up the passport and mail it to you
    even if you were applying for a new passport given your travel dates you would’ve barely made it

  • Suggestion: The renewal of a Guyana Passport require that one purchase a form for $1.00 which is then mailed to the applicant. This is cumbersome and relatively expensive when you account for the time spent to purchase a $1.00 form. I am aware that this assist to defray expenses. However, it would be more prudent to add for e.g. $2.00 (for each submission) to the cost of the renewal when it is submitted to assist with your operation. This would be most expeditous to the applicant and I am sure in all cases less expensive.

    Additionally, since we are in the computer age, why is a renewal form not available over the internet? Again, any such cost should be added to the renewal when it is submitted.

    Regards,

    Suresh Prasad

    you first need to report your passport lost to the nearest Police Station and obtain a copy of the report.

  • Voice of Guyana says:

    Machine readable passport applications will be processed at overseas missions
    ALL machine readable passport applicants living overseas will now have their necessary particulars obtained at the nearest overseas mission.

    This was announced yesterday by Head of the Presidential Secretariat (HPS) Dr. Roger Luncheon.

    The Cabinet Secretary was speaking at his post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President, Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, Georgetown.

    “It will be processed there and then that information would be transported under secure cover to Guyana,” he assured.

    He explained that all of the documentations and the ingredients in the process of being granted a machine readable passport would be initiated at the overseas mission.

    “That is because the central passport office in Guyana will continue to be the sole issuing site for machine readable passports and this would be so for the near future,” the HPS pointed out.

    The HPS reiterated that machine readable passport applicants not living in Guyana will either come to Guyana or have the option of going through the nearest mission.

    “Where they will be submitting and the mission would obtain all of the particulars. It would then be securely transported to Guyana, the machine readable passport would be perfected and then sent to the mission,” he further outlined.

    Asked about the contract for the supply of passports, he recalled that the arrangement was fashioned on the basis of existing demand and claims experience.

    “And so over three years, we calculated the number of passports that Guyanese have asked for collectively, this is both here and in the Diaspora, and so the contract was fashioned on the production of a similar amount of machine readable passports so we have done some amount of conversion,” he stated.

    He added that this would, of course, accelerate as the date approaches for which the non-machine readable passport becomes no longer legally valid.

    Dr. Luncheon alluded that definitely by 2011 and 2012, non-machine readable passport would belong to “the museum and our private memorabilia”.

    “So everyone would have to switch over to machine readable and that is why over three years, the first contract in the production of machine readable passports was entered into,” he reminded.

    “I can assure you that we have not gotten any way close to issuing the volume of machine readable passports to exhaust the contract,” he pointed out. (PRIYA NAUTH)

    If yes, then where should the application documents send to? Which office address?

    I’ve sent email to Guyana’s branch office in different countries many times and wait, but no any response. Can any body help me? Thanks!
