GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP) – Guyana and Argentina have signed a commercial agreement aimed at increasing the small amount of trade between the South American countries, an official said Saturday.The deal covers trade in goods and services in a bid to spur business among the countries’ private sectors. It was signed Friday by Guyana’s Foreign Trade Minister, Clement Rohee, and Argentina’s Ambassador, Jose L. Vignolo.
No further information was available, but Rohee said Guyana officials will contact local businesses to discuss possible trade opportunities with Argentina.
Trade between the two countries totals about US$1 million (euro840,000) a year. Guyana exports rice, sugar and furniture, while Argentina sends construction materials.
