GUYANESE Shirvanie Persaud, 17, has emerged the Caribbean’s highest achiever at this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams and another Guyanese student has emerged the top student in the Sciences.
The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) made the announcement yesterday, naming the Queen’s College student the Most Outstanding Student Overall.

GEORGETOWN, Guyana: General Secretary of the Clerical and Commercial Workers’ Union (CCWU), Grantley Culbard has indicated that the union will be pressing for an “enhanced severance package†for employees of BWIA, which will grind to a halt on December 31.
The union represents close to 80 Guyanese employees.
