Winston “Flames” Jarrett was born in 1944 in Lime Tree Gardens in the parish of Saint Ann, Jamaica.
After working with Alton Ellis, Winston created 17 albums and dozens of solo and compilation recordings.
Winston backed up Ken Boothe, Marcia Griffiths and Winston Francis, and recorded over a hundred titles during the early seventies for Joe Gibbs and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry among others. Most recently, Studio One released Crucial Times as part of it’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, and Young Tree records released the double CD Survival is the Game in 2005.
These albums show once again why this Rastaman from Trenchtown is a living reggae legend. We are fortunate to have him close to us in Seattle. Winston Jarrett and his band’s performance in October was wonderfully entertaining. Here’s another session of Live Roots Reggae! There’s nothing like it!
