Please advise how/if I can download a passport RENEWAL form
    Thanks

vog: passport renewal forms are not available online at this time. you can send a self addressed stamp envelope to your nearest embassy if you’re not in Guyana, but please call to verify details.

    Good Evening Madam/Sir,

I recently got employed in The Bahamas and would like to apply for a visa to the US soon in order to ease the hassle of travelling through Jamaica. My passport was issued to me in 1999 and it somewhat badly damaged on the cover. How do i get about rewning it. Also it is my only form of identification on the Island. Please advise me and how soon i can have the new passport.

    Thank You.
    Sincerely
    Alana

vog: Alana we’re assuming you’re in the Bahamas. The time it takes to get a new passport varies by location and of course there could be other factors that could cause delays. The closest consulate to you [Bahamas] would be Miami. We’d suggest you call ahead and let whichever one you choose know that you are sending in your passport if you will not be taking it in personally.

How come the form that you advised to download from “guyanapolice.org” has No. 1168851 on it? Does that mean everyone will have the same No. This doesn’t look right to me. Please explain.

vog: we spoke to the Police about this and they said that the number does not matter. They are in the process of changing that on their site but the form will be accepted as is.

you can use the old passport until it expires. however it is advisable that you renew it at least a year before expiration as some airlines and countries will not allow you to fly within six months of a passport expiration

My sister sent a request for a police clearance to the Police Headquarters in Eve Leary since late February but has not received a reply. Is there a way of checking the status please? It is very urgent.

Thank you so much for your time.

this would require direct contact with the Police via telephone or an in person visit to find out what’s going on. we do not know the circumstances and details as a result cannot comment on why you have not received a response.

    Hi,
I have downloaded the application form for a new passport along with an Instructions form from the Police website. The instructions indicate that applicants who have changed their names need to submit:
    - A registered Deed Poll along with a recent birth certificate not less than 3 months old.

What is the registered Deed Poll and where does one go for the birth certificate renewal? Also why must I renew my birth certificate if I have the original in good condition. I am a Guyanese living overseas and was also married overseas. Thanks.

  44. Yolande says:

    May 4th, 2009 at 10:27 pm (#)

    Hi again,

After reading the actual application form I gathered that the registered Deed Poll is only needed when there has been a name change other than by marriage. Therefore I am thinking that I do not need this nor a recent birth certificate as my name change is by marriage. Please confirm. Thanks

  45. Voice of Guyana says:

    May 5th, 2009 at 8:34 pm (#)

    @ Yolande
we were confused as to why you wanted to do that in the first place as your name at birth cannot be replaced with a name acquired due to marriage
