I have, before you, three questions that I really need help with. [Thank you]
1) The poem juxtaposes guns and soldiers with the things of nature ('red flowers'- line 4, 'slender grass'- line 10).Why do you think this juxtaposition is do frequently used in this type of poem?
2) What is the effect of the repeated reference to 'my love' in the poem?
3) In the last line the 'man of death' is 'aiming at your dream'.What does this mean? What is threatened by the soldies if not life itself?

'Proper english', u say? your sentence isn't even properly structured! If it wasted ur time...why even bother to leave a comment? If you think your imbecile piece of criticism will, however, detract from our pleasure of enjoying this piece of literature! I say you're quite ignoble, dullard and desperate for attention. You've no appreciation for literature whatsoever! i totally agree with 'michelle'..."Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder"...you guys are quite blind, metaphorically speaking...(that goes for 'girl'...as well)
As a 13 year old girl, in ninth grade and from Guyana "This is the dark time, my love" informs me of Guyana's past and makes me more appreciative of my country. I love literature and this is one of the interesting poems i've read. It's set in British Guiana when the govenor suspended the constitution and British soldiers were sent to 'maintain order'.

Good Evening Madam/Sir,

I recently got employed in The Bahamas and would like to apply for a visa to the US soon in order to ease the hassle of travelling through Jamaica. My passport was issued to me in 1999 and it somewhat badly damaged on the cover. How do i get about rewning it. Also it is my only form of identification on the Island. Please advise me and how soon i can have the new passport.

Thank You.
Sincerely
Alana

vog: Alana we're assuming you're in the Bahamas. The time it takes to get a new passport varies by location and of course there could be other factors that could cause delays. The closest consulate to you [Bahamas] would be Miami. We'd suggest you call ahead and let whichever one you choose know that you are sending in your passport if you will not be taking it in personally.

Mr Nagamootoo has been an inspiration to me all my life, as a young girl in guyana to the woman I am today in America. Among the many qualites that I admire in him, his intregrity, duty and love for his country and family stands out like a beacon of light to the hopeless, the poor and underprevileged youths of Guyana. He is an erudite speaker and a true son of his Mother country. Mr Nagamootoo has a passion for freedom that ignite patriotism in your blood when he speaks. With his leadership and guidance, Guyana can become a land of Paradise once again.
Thank you, Moses Nagamootoo for your unwavering loyalty and service to People everywhere.

I must say that my mother was in a private hospital and received good treatment. But this was only because she could afford this.

Do many people know that the same consultants etc who work in private also come from public hospital.

I think it is a crying shame that people can only access good medical treatment if they pay for it.

I remember on a visit to Guyana I was travelling in a mini bus with a lady who was visible sick when I asked her companion what was wrong with her, she said that her mother had a stroke, it was quite clear to me that this lady need
to be admitted to hospital. I was very distressed by this.

I love Guyana but I believe that Guyana needs to change, at some point I would like to live there and enjoy the land.
